At the core of every successful community organization are the people who give their time, energy, and passion to keep things running. At Cville Tool Library, that’s our volunteers. From the moment the doors open to the final tool check-in of the day, these dedicated individuals make everything possible.
Our volunteers do much more than just hand out drills and lawn mowers—they’re the friendly faces who help members find the right tool for their project, share advice on how to use equipment safely, and keep our collection clean, sharp, and ready for action. They organize shelves, test returns, and often go the extra mile to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Our volunteers bring a spirit of helpfulness and community that defines the CTL experience. Many of them are makers, gardeners, DIYers, or simply people who believe in sharing resources to make our neighborhoods stronger. Some volunteer weekly, while others pop in once a month—but every shift makes a difference.
To show our appreciation, we recently hosted a volunteer celebration filled with food, games, and lots of laughter. Highlights included a Price is Right–style trivia contest to test CTL knowledge, plenty of photos to capture the fun, and a delicious lunch shared in great company. It was a relaxed, joy-filled afternoon and a memorable way to honor the people who keep our library running strong.

We’re also proud to say that our volunteers are part of a growing movement—one that promotes sustainability, skill-sharing, and mutual aid. By helping others borrow instead of buy, they reduce waste, save people money, and empower neighbors to tackle their own repairs and creative projects.
To all our volunteers: thank you! You’re the reason the Cville Tool Library is thriving. And to anyone curious about joining the team—come say hi! No tool expertise required, just a willingness to help out and be part of something good.
Want to get involved? Drop us a line or stop by during open hours. We’d love to meet you!
